Elaine Bowman has been a steadfast advocate for the NACE Foundation since it began as an Endowment Committee within NACE International in the late 1980’s. She led the NACE Foundation as president from 2006–2008 with creative ideas for fundraising and a vision for innovative educational programs.
Elaine’s strategy was to create and sustain a viable, vibrant Foundation that would enhance the corrosion industry by reaching out to the future generation of corrosion professionals, and those who educate them, through programs that offer financial assistance as well as teaching tools.
She remains a staunch supporter of the foundation through her volunteer efforts and has also been instrumental in raising significant funds for the organization through her position with Champion Technologies.
In addition to her efforts with the NACE Foundation, Elaine has been a member of NACE International since 1980, serving most offices of the Houston Section. She has also served in officer capacities on the Awards, Exhibits and Conferences and Expositions, and Public Affairs Committees, and volunteered on several ad hoc committees. In addition to her presidency with the NACE Foundation, she served on the NACE International board from 1991 to 1997, and has the distinct honor of being the first woman to serve as president of NACE International from 2002-2003.
On behalf of the board of directors of the NACE Foundation, we are proud to recognize Elaine Bowman as the recipient of the 2011 Founders Award.
