The Foundation is proud to honor Terry May as this year’s recipient of the Founders Award. Terry served as the inaugural president of the newly formed NACE Foundation after reorganization of the NACE International Endowment Committee in 2002. His strategic vision has resulted in a thriving organization that is fulfilling its mission to inspire students and educators to engage in the field of corrosion science and engineering.
Terry has been instrumental in the Foundation’s successful beginnings and its outreach to the public and, in particular, to students and teachers who are benefiting from the NACE Foundation’s scholarship, awards, and travel aid programs, in addition to the partnership with the ASM Foundation that has resulted in the introduction of corrosion technology into high school science curriculum in hundreds of schools.
Terry has spent his entire career devoted to the corrosion industry. He founded MESA Products and has built a company from a one-man operation to one employing over 70 people, all involved in the cathodic protection and corrosion industry. He has not only been a role model in his service to the NACE Foundation, but has created a benchmark company for the corrosion industry—recently, it was announced that MESA will receive the prestigious 2006 Malcolm Baldridge Award for Small Business.
His passion for, leadership of, and financial commitment to the NACE Foundation is the fundamental reason for its success in its infancy stage. Thank you, Terry, from everyone past and present who will benefit from your vision and efforts.
